George Westinghouse College Prep is a new-start school that now offers two competitive programs; a selective enrollment College Preparatory program and a College and Careers program. A concerted effort by community activists, educators, parents, Chicago Public Schools, the City of Chicago and concerned citizens led to a newly constructed campus being built to house the new school.
Westinghouse College Prep opens its door Fall 2009. Drawing on the long rich history of Westinghouse Career Academy, Westinghouse College Prep will offer a rigorous College and Career program with three career pathways for students to choose from; Radio-TV Broadcasting, Medical Academy, Information Networking and Business Academy. Westinghouse's College Preparatory program will offer students a rigorous course load, some highlights include, an Accelerated Math Program, 4 years of a foreign language (Spanish or Mandarin) and Advanced Placement courses as early as 9th grade.
